Biometric Time Clock
Try a Biometric Time Clock to Save Your Company Time and Money
For companies who pay their employees by the hour using a time clock, there is the potential for many issues. A biometric time clock can be the answer to many of those problems. What happens with a biometric time clock is that the machine recognizes the size and shape of the fingers of the employee. So instead of using a time card, your employee would use her fingers to punch in and punch out every day.
“Buddy punching” is a trick employees use when they are running late for work. With traditional time cards, someone can, when the boss isn’t looking, punch a buddy in for the day. That way, he does not miss out on paid time even though he is running late. Since a biometric time clock uses the fingers of the employee, it eliminates the ability to do anything resembling buddy punching.
“Biometric time clock has been developed to protect the employer, and prevent fraud.”
Time cards can be easily lost. They are, after all, nothing more than paper that can rip or end up off the rack and on the floor, which delays payday. Instead, a biometric clock uses a card the employee has with him or her at all times, the fingers. The employee simply uses his or her fingers to slide into the biometric time clock, and when it recognizes the silhouette of the employee’s fingers it knows who to clock in for the day.
The only real drawback is that the biometric clocks tend to work almost too well. If an employee has his or her fingernails painted, a bandaid on, or anything else different with his or her fingers, the biometric time clock will sometimes not work. Other than that, though, there is very little in the way of drawbacks.
Biometric time clocks are a great value to company owners. Once employees get used to them, they realize that there is no card to keep track of, and you will realize that there is a lot less of problems like buddy punching.
